It is important for adolecents to know the laws of sexual consent in their own state. For example, in California: PENAL CODE SECTION 261-269

- Unlawful sexual intercourse is an act of sexual intercourse accomplished with a person who is not the spouse of the perpetrator, if the person is a minor.

- For the purposes of this section, a "minor" is a person under the age of 18 years and an "adult" is a person who is at least 18 years of age.

- Any person who engages in an act of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor who is not more than three years older or three years younger than the perpetrator, is guilty of a misdemeanor.

The Hour of Code is a world wide movement dedicated to have students get more involved and gain more knowledge in computer science.

Each year the Hour of Code is held during Computer Science Education Week. This year it took place at Foshay's Technology Fair where high school seniors demonstrated projects responding with a solution to a problem in their community through the use of technology.

Members from the district and other guests served as judges in each group. As a result we won second place taking home our Amazon giftcards.

California's Sexual Consent Laws

We teamed up with another group called "Say Yes to Consent". Our event was held on March 10 at lunch. We invited teachers and students to come and learn all about sexual consent. We also invited the media as well. Univision came to film us, which was really exciting.

During our event, we asked our guests what they know about consent and then we  revealed why they were either right or wrong. We also gave them the opportunity to earn prizes by answering a question on our post it  board at the end of our presentation. In addition, we invited our guests to take a picture at our photo booth and post them on their social media.
